CHANGES

MAJOR CHANGE is taking place in and around my life.
Lets say I am on New Exciting Journeys and I'm open to several destinations.
For me this journey is about living my purpose with Clarity and Exactness.

TWO AWESOME projects coming up for me in the months ahead.
First is a staged reading of a play about Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome. Details will be posted but if you dont know anything about that topic and you live in America YOU NEED TO SEE THIS.
The other project is also socially important. Glenda's Girlz will be shooting this summer. Feature length Indie film about young girls in a group home.
OKAY so besides these projects being awesome, being written, directed and produced by two different Courageous Black Women (who are artist and activist) I get to play more than 10 years younger for both. Did I just give my age away?

Well I have no problem telling you if you ask because if you are looking at me you would never believe it anyway. Let us see how my physical blossoms in the next year, I'm totally excited about entering the next phase of womanhood.
AND no way does any of this interfere with a career in the arts, remember I'm living my purpose.
Im happy to report that this Revolutionary Beauty has also picked up her game in fighting for the freedom of her people. I have been invited to join the ranks of even more great men and women who are leaders in organizations that are and have been making progress for the people for decades already.
This is what has kept me motivated to participate in life when faced with major crisis. Things that look like a crisis to others rarely looks like one in the presence of greatness. My so called problems are easily transformed into blessings by those who see the state of emergency for Blacks.
When you are in the trenches, the people in your life that arent participating seem less important. We all know its been said if you arent part of the solution you are part of the problem. While I agree with that for the most part I feel that the "problem people" are just the reason we do the work we do.
I feel blessed to be a part of a family of people working to liberate the WHOLE FAMILY, even those that say they aren't part of the family.
Thank You Creator, Ancestors and Orisa for your continued guidance and protection.

JUST AN ARTIST???

Are you just an artist? or Is there an activist in there screaming out through your creativity? One of my mentors and favorite elders has taught that who controls the Images controls Self Esteem, Self Respect and ultimately Self Development. Too much pressure or responsibility for those of us that are famed as the least responsible?
I was recently disappointed by an artist/friend taking the position that it doesnt matter what is presented in art. That we do art just for the sake of art. Im disappointed because it just feels less passionate, and I know that artist have been and may always be on the first line as activists. I wanted my friend to be with me, to champion causes together while making beautiful art.
WHAT ABOUT YOU...ARTIST? ACTIVIST? BOTH?
